Addressing a specialized conference on nitrogen and gas synthesis, Farnaz Alavi, director of planning and development at NPC, said given the abundance of natural gas resources in Iran, many plans have bene put down for utilization of the item as feedstock in petrochemical industries and NPC has devised numerous plans to complete the value chain in the industry, reported NIPNA.
She said in 2014, 69% of the world's gas synthesis output was based on coal and natural gas had only 13% share in production of the item.
Alavi said promotion of the petrochemical industry's level in the region and the world by enhancing production capacity and presence in international markets are NPC's top agendas in the industry in Iran, adding completion of the value chain in the sector is also chiefly aimed at by the company.
The official also said that Iran can currently supply 10 million tons per year of methanol and urea, adding the country generated $1.3b and $650m by exporting the items respectively in the last calendar year which ended on March 20.
